Public art
installation,
Kerala
The goal was to integrate for Swathi Thirunal Music College the concept of listening to the SOUNDS inside a shell. The curvilinear form of the installation breaks the rectilinear architecture of the vernacular buildings around, enhancing the organic natural landscaping. It also provides scope of being transformed into a gathering or performance space.
Suggestion: framework of vertical metal profiles (cantilever structures), terracotta and wooden panels or textile membrane at the interior create the acoustics inside the shell. The area of the total covered surface is around 65 square meter and a height of 3.2 meter.
