Done as a national competition entry, the idea behind the design is to commemorate 75 years of Indian freedom and to re-invoke the spirit of freedom into the collective ‘Indian’ consciousness through this conceptual art form. Inspiration was drawn from the indigenous mango/paisley motif, which is a symbol of fertility across all art and crafts. We endeavoured to get the spirit of the motif and Genius Loci of its expressions in our design.
The tower appears as an Icon, a futuristic piece of wonder that can instill pride in Indians. The design also addressed the ongoing issues of air and water pollution in Delhi .
